Contract - Principal Elixir Developer

Rheli.co has an opening for a full or part time 3 month contract.

We are augmenting a 2 person part time team with another actual living human being* to:

• Integration with ML based Speech to Text system - we are streaming audio in realtime from IoT to a Service and to storage in S3

• Creating a service endpoint for audio streaming

• Creating phx channel bindings for web and mobile apps

• Innovating in the Elixir NoSQL space - we are creating a new opinionated NoSQL module for OSS release. This builds upon Ecto.

Are you qualified? This is a pretty senior role. Our patterns aren’t trivial, and your understanding of Elixir and OTP will have to be deep and experienced. Beyond doing apis/frontend touchpoints you will want to be comfortable with binary protocols, asynchronous data access, and comfortable jumping into source code of the libraries and frameworks we may use to evaluate/enhance them.

The work is exciting, the pay meets your needs, and the team is lovely. We are a no plan, no sprint culture. We favor direct interaction and experimentation over specification.

The existing team is, east-to-west, located in Valencia (Spain), New York City, Chicago, Chihuahua (Mexico), Los Angeles, Seattle. You can be located anywhere in the universe with sufficient bandwidth.

* ”…actual living human being…”: we previously used the term “resource” here, and a gentleman on twitter helpfully pointed out that we had. Generally we try to use terms that put our humanity to the fore, and the machine of commerce far away. We are embarrassed that we allowed ourselves to use corporate newspeak. Generally, when we work we try to talk about people, not users. We know better, but are imperfect. A synonym for that? Human. Keeping this note here so as not to hide that fact.
